Friday Random Top 10 – April 24th

04.24.2009 · 9 Comments

As is my nature, I’ve procrastinated myself in to quite the corner today.  With rugby, softball, and basketball on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights respectively, I’ve not managed to get any work done on my essay that’s due this afternoon.  So after this is posted, I need to hunker down and start writing (after I watch last night’s episode of “The Office”, of course).

  1. Tenacious D – “Zanzibar!” Tenacious D*
  2. The Neville Brothers – “Way Down In The Hole” The Wire Soundtrack
  3. The Nadas – “Diner” Transceiver
  4. DJ Danger Mouse/Jay-Z/The Beatles – “99 Problems” The Grey Album
  5. Kanye West – “Get Em High” College Dropout
  6. Mitch Hedberg – “This CD is in Stores” Mitch All Together
  7. Wilco – “When You Wake Up Feeling Old” Summerteeth
  8. Willie Nelson – “Whiskey River” Songs
  9. America – “Woman Tonight” History: America’s Greatest Hits
  10. The Nadas – “New Start” New Start

Death, taxes, and Wilco and comedy in my Friday Top 10s.  If you haven’t heard “The Grey Album”, I highly recommend it.  Danger Mouse took an acapella version of Jay-Z’s “Black Album” and music samples from the Beatles’ “White Album”.

*Also, the title of this song has been changed.  If get the reference and you already know the title, you’ll understand why.  If you don’t know, you probably shouldn’t anyway.

“Looking for You (Guiseppe Tornatore Suite: Cinema Paradiso)” – Ennio Morricone “Yo-Yo Ma Plays Ennio Morricone”
“Paradise Lost” – Rick Wakeman “Crimes of Passion“
“Edge of the World” – John Scott “Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes“
“The Empath: Vian Lab/The Subjects/Cave Exit/Star Trek Chase” – Fred Steiner “Star Trek, vol. 2“
“In a Pile of Its Own Good” – Empire Studios “Age of Mythology”
“Will & Penny’s Theme” – Apollo 440 “Lost in Space“

Now I’m in the mood to see “Earth” this afternoon…

You’re the only person to comment on the Tenacious D. I assume you know why I didn’t list the real title on the blog my grandmothers frequent. ;)
